Rani's real name is Nasira Sarfraz  and she was born on the 8th December, 1946.

An Extremly talented actress and dancer who reinvented herself from decade to decade

She is best rembered for her films with Waheed Murad, although she made many great films with other co-stars as well.

She won two Nigar Awards, one for 'Mera Ghar Meri Jannat' (1968), and  the other for 'Sona Chandi' in 1983.

Rani was married three times. Her first husband was film director Hassan Tariq who divorced her in the 1970s. Shortly after her marriage to producer Mian Javed Qamar, it was discovered that Rani had cancer. During her treatment in London, she met and married famous cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz.

Rani died of cancer on May 27, 1993. She was only 46 years old.
